Project description
Transnational cooperation to increase the sustainability of the dairy sector
Europe is the largest producer of milk in the world. With more than one million dairy cattle farms in the EU, production has been steadily increasing from just over 151 million tonnes in 1998 to over 165 million tonnes in 2017. The EU-funded R4D project will develop a network addressing the needs of the EU bovine dairy sector. This endeavour will, for the first time, bring together dairy farmers, farmers’ organisations, advisors, researchers and all relevant actors across 15 countries, with the aim of promoting cooperation and facilitating greater knowledge exchange. A transnational ecosystem will be formed, significantly boosting the economic viability and sustainability of the European dairy-producing sector.
