qualification of High pErformance pRogrammable Microprocessor and dEvelopment of Software ecosystem

Project description

High-performance programmable microprocessor for space applications

EU efforts to boost competitiveness in the space services sector require advanced solutions and applications. The EU-funded HERMES project aims to facilitate the qualification of high-performance programmable microprocessor developing the software ecosystem. The main objectives of the project are to reach a level in which the technology is validated and demonstrated in the relevant environment by developing and testing of the very complex ceramic hermetic package CGA 1752, space ESCC evaluation of the rad-hard FPGA (NG-ULTRA) developed under projects of the European Space Agency, French National Centre for Space Studies and the EU, and development and validation by end users of several software tools including BAMBU HLS, Xtratum hypervisor and BL1.

Objective

The HERMES project sets clear and measurable main objectives to reach a TRL 6 from TRL 4 as follows:
1. Development and testing of very complex ceramic hermetic package CGA 1752 – TRL 6 achieved
2. Space ESCC evaluation of the rad-hard FPGA (NG-ULTRA) developed under ESA, CNES and EU projects – TRL 6 achieved
3. Development and validation by end-users of several software tools including BAMBU HLS, Xtratum hypervisor and BL1 – TRL 6 achieved
