gender CLImate Migration: innOvatiVe European Union socio-legal avenues

Project description

Protecting gender and climate change-induced migration

To effectively manage migration flows, the EU socio-legislative frameworks should no longer ignore the underlying reasons and the human side of the phenomena - doing so can deepen the socially harmful consequences of migration. In particular, the vulnerability of women and girls and the increase in climate change-induced migration remains a big issue within the EU. To trigger the necessary legal changes, the EU-funded CLIMOVE project adopts a multi-disciplinary approach. It will provide comparative research on the legal framework of the EU Member States, considering migration, climate change and gender, to elaborate innovative regulatory improvements for more sufficient EU commitments towards climate migration from a gender perspective.
