Project description
A materials revolution is afoot
It is not an easy task to produce a sustainable pair of shoes, a plastic package or even a printed textile. Waste2BioComp is an EU-funded project that aims to demonstrate relevant scale production of bio-based products and materials as alternatives to one's with a large environmental footprint, using innovative manufacturing technologies. All stages of a product's life cycle will be addressed, starting from research and innovation activities to smart manufacturing technologies, including smart inkjet printing techniques. Therefore, in the Waste2BioComp project, researchers, together with industry experts, will integrate all the stages in the bio-based product's life cycle, including end-of-life approaches and sustainability and toxicity assessments to ensure full circularity of the materials. Furthermore, Waste2BioComp will develop training activities to support the creation of a skilled workforce.
