Compilation of briefing papers on regularisation and their effects (opens in new window)

A series of briefing papers will summarise the findings from this work package for policymakers at national and European level, covering European trends and debates, costs and benefits of regularisation, and the pull-factor argument.

Compilation of training and audiovisual materials for different audiences with updated data and facts about irregular migration and regularisations (opens in new window)

Training and audiovisual materials for different audiences on the topic of irregular migration will be complied.

Working Paper: Comparative analysis of costs and benefits of regularisation (opens in new window)

Drawing on the national-level background reports (T7.2), we will provide a broad comparative analysis concerning the costs and benefits of regularisation for EU member states and irregular migrants themselves.

Working Paper: Data needs and usage (opens in new window)

The paper will analyse irregular migration data producers’ and stakeholders’ data needs and usage. The working paper will also review analysis and dissemination practices and stakeholders’ practical and ethical considerations in dealing with irregular migration data.

Policy brief on flow data, methods and key types (opens in new window)

The outcome from T5.4 (expert group meeting) will culminate in the formulation of a policy brief that can help policymakers and other stakeholders have a better understanding of irregular migrant flows and how best to estimate them given different contexts.

MIrreM Handbook on regularisation (opens in new window)

Handbook on regularisation will be produced by Mirrem consortium.

Policy Brief on the irregular migrant population (opens in new window)

The policy brief will provide a concise summary of information that can help policymakers and other stakeholders grasp the main issues around estimates of irregular populations and make decisions about which factors to prioritise while making these estimates.

Working Paper: Examining the pull effect of regularisation (opens in new window)

This working paper examines the so-called ‘pull effect’ of regularisation programmes.

Working Paper: MIrreM's Conceptual Approach - Critique-Guided Designing (opens in new window)

This working paper develops a metaframework guiding the project as a whole

Working Paper: Estimates on irregular migration stocks (opens in new window)

This working paper develops a set of criteria for evaluating current estimates of the stock of irregular migrants at the national and city level and then applies those criteria to selected EU countries and cities.

Working Paper: Irregular migration and the economy (opens in new window)

This working paper develops a set of criteria for evaluating current estimates of the stock of irregular migrants in the labour market at the national and city level and then applies those criteria to estimates from selected EU countries and cities.

Policy Brief: The ethics and politics of numbers (opens in new window)

This policy brief will summarise the results of D14 and target a wider audience of stakeholders

Review report on innovative approaches to estimating irregular migration (opens in new window)

Based on a T62 desk review and the T61 workshop this report will provide a nontechnical review of innovative approaches to estimating irregular migration flows and stocks Through a critical reflection on traditional approaches the report will draw attention to new approaches that aim to complement established approaches

Policy Brief: Overcoming limitations of irregular migration estimates (opens in new window)

The policy brief will provide recommended strategies that stakeholders can utilise to overcome reliability and robustness challenges when using and communicating about irregular migration estimates. The policy brief will be the basis for vlogs, blogs and a webinar organised in the framework of WP8 (Stakeholders).

Briefing paper: The different uses of data on irregular migration (opens in new window)

The briefing paper will identify key themes issues and questions that will inform the participatory workshops

Policy brief: Classifying policy approaches to irregular migrants (opens in new window)

This deliverable applies the taxonomy developed in D1.2 to the findings that have emerged across T3.1, T3.2 and T3.3, classifying policy and practical approaches to migrant irregularity to better understand the impact of relevant approaches.

Compilation of 14 case study briefs (opens in new window)

This Deliverable will be a compilation of case studies of the 14 countries under study in Task T3.2.

Briefing papers on pilot studies (opens in new window)

This briefing series will test new approaches empirically using a range of case studies. Each case study will produce a short briefing paper. The series will provide new insights which form the basis of D6.3. Tentatively, six briefing papers are planned: Briefing paper on estimating irregular migration using Social Media Data (Pilot 1)Briefing paper on estimating irregular migration using Traveller Data (Pilot 2)Briefing paper on estimating irregular migration using social service entitlement data (Pilot 3)Briefing paper on estimating irregular migration using mortality registers (Pilot 4)Briefing paper on estimating irregular migration using information on the informal economy (Pilot 5)Briefing paper on estimating potential effects of legal status changes (Pilot 6)

Working paper on irregular migration flows (opens in new window)

As a complement to D.4.2 (working paper: estimates on irregular migration stocks), we will also produce a working paper where we critically assess the available data and estimation methods for irregular flows.

Working paper: The ethics and politics of numbers (opens in new window)

This working paper will review scientific debates on the ethics and politics of numbers in the field of irregular migration

Working Paper: EU Policy Framework on irregular migrants (opens in new window)

This working paper presents the results of T3.1, analysis of the EU policy framework on irregular migrants, covering relevant policies (across related policy areas and relevant sectors), legal categories, rights and deportability of irregular migrants, as well as the mapping of actors at the EU level who deal with irregular migrants.

Working Paper: Understanding irregular migration - results of strategic case studies (opens in new window)

The outcome of the case studies on selected types of irregular migration flows with different characteristics will be presented and analysed in this working paper. The perspective of irregular migrants themselves will also be underscored in this working paper.

Working Paper: Comparing national laws and policies addressing irregular migrants (opens in new window)

Based on D3.2, this deliverable provides a comparative analysis of the national laws and policies addressing irregular migrants across the 14 countries covered, highlighting in particular pathways into and out of irregularity, as well as promising practices.

Working paper: A review of concepts of migrant irregularity (opens in new window)

This working paper reviews scientific debates on the meaning of migrant irregularity in the contemporary context and proposes an operational concept for the purpose of the MIrreM project

MIrreM Handbook on data on the migrant population in an irregular situation (opens in new window)

Handbook on irregular migration will be produced by Mirrem consortium.

Working paper: Estimating irregular migration - feasibility, scalability and validity of innovative approaches (opens in new window)

Based on the review (T6.1; T6.2; D6.1; D6.2), this working paper will provide broader insights from Work Package 6 regarding the potential of new approaches. New approaches will be assessed regarding their feasibility (i.e., availability of data sources), scalability (i.e. across the EU); and validity (appropriateness of methods). The report will highlight requirements for, and the risks associated with applying new approaches in new environments.

MIrreM Public Database on irregular migrant stock estimates and indicators (opens in new window)

This is a database of irregular migrant stock estimates for a selection of EU countries, along with an evaluation of the credibility of the estimate and related uncertainties. The database will also contain meta-level information which could include the data source, institution, year of publication, methodology, and whether there were uncertainty estimates or ranges, among others.

MIrreM Public Database on irregular migration flows estimates and indicators (opens in new window)

Based on T5.1 and T5.2, we will put up a database of irregular migrant flow estimates for a selection of EU countries with meta-level information on sources and methodology and annotation on scope and limitations.

Visualisation of horizontal and vertical cooperation frameworks (opens in new window)

This deliverable will engage network analysis to visualise ties and subjects of cooperation at the EU, national and local level. The visualisation will be accompanied by a paper analysing these cooperation frameworks and how they link up to data usage and production (WP2).

Infographics on the irregular migrant population in Europe (opens in new window)

This deliverable will consist of a series of graphic visual representations of the irregular migrant stock in selected countries and cities that present this information quickly and clearly.

Infographics on regularisation and their effects (opens in new window)
