Passer une IRM plus rapidement et sans appréhension
Parfois, l’imagerie par résonance magnétique (IRM) constitue le seul moyen de diagnostiquer des problèmes médicaux. Cependant, celle-ci peut s’apparenter à une sentence de mort pour les patients claustrophobes, qui ont peur des espaces sombres ou confinés. C’est exactement ce que sont les IRM: sombres et confinées. Dans ce contexte, le projet SPAC MRI, financé par l’UE, permettra de développer une IRM moins effrayante pour les patients, et plus accessible et beaucoup plus précise pour les radiologues. Elle sera également plus rentable. Le projet a par exemple mis au point une nouvelle technologie d’homogénéisation du champ de l’IRM qui est 50 fois plus légère, cinq fois plus efficace, plus performante, et permet des mises à jour 250 fois plus rapides que l’état actuel de la technique.
Objectif
We aim to pioneer the next generation of MRI machines which are less scary for claustrophobic patients, more accessible for the under-served population (e.g. obese patients, patients with medical implants in their body), more accurate for radiologists, and more cost effective for the manufacturer.
We developed a novel MRI field homogenization technology, which is 50x lighter, 5x more power efficient, performs 2x better and updates 250x faster than the current state-of-the-art. For the first time, we enable real-time, precise and local control of the MRI magnetic field using a compact device.
Our aim in this project is to substantiate our value proposition and evidence of safety/performance through solid data generation and disseminate the data to all relevant stakeholders to improve our market position and consolidate our long-term commercialization plans.
