Enhancing Earth Observation capabilities of the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence on Disaster Risk Reduction through Artificial Intelligence

Deliverables

AI-EO Risk Assessment of environmental hazards in Cyprus (opens in new window)

A assessment of environmental hazards in Cyprus utilising the six developed AI-EO risk assessment models (earthquakes, landslides, soil erosion, forest fires, floods, marine pollution), using AI-assisted data fusion techniques, and AI modules that will be designed to identify the relevant changes.

EO Big Data AI management platform (opens in new window)

A platform that will be developed to handle all the multi-source data EO inputs (text, optical/SAR images), specifying what data the project will generate, if and how they will be exploited and/or made accessible for verification & re-use, and how will be curated & preserved. APIs (Application programming interfaces) will be created and used as the building block of retrieving this data into the system.

Report on staff exchange and expert visits outcomes (opens in new window)

A collection of training material provided by the advanced partners in all the selected topics after the completion of the mutual secondments, and results from close collaboration. Moreover, it will include material from the lectures given on AI, and Research Management and Administration during the expert visits.

Dissemination and exploitation plan (opens in new window)

A report that will present the guidelines for he dissemination and exploitation activities of the project, and will include a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the achievement of the goals set previously.

Report on summer schools’ outcomes (opens in new window)

A collection of training material provided by the advanced partners in all the selected topics after the completion of the summer schools. Results from joint activities will also be presented.

Material from workshops (opens in new window)

A collection of all training material provided by the advanced partners in the selected topics after the completion of each AI-based and Research Management and Administration workshop.

Current and emerging trends on AI for EO related research (opens in new window)

A state-of-the-art review to identify the most recent advancements in the field of AI for EO and the best practices worldwide for the integration of AI with the research area of Disaster Risk Reduction of the ECoE. Upcoming synergies between AI and EO experts through European and International Space programmes and Agencies, such as ESA, NASA, DLR, and the Copernicus Programme, will be also included.

Quality Assurance plan (opens in new window)

A plan for the quality assurance procedure implemented by the Quality Assurance team, consisting of experts in the fields of EO and AI, i.e. Prof. D. Hadjimitsis (ECoE), Dr A. Pagani (DFKI), and Prof. F. Del Frate (UNITOV), for all project deliverables.

Risk assessment and contingency plan (opens in new window)

A report, that will include all the potential risks and the respective mitigation actions, will be developed at the project start (M3), and will be frequently updated, throughout the project’s duration, to accommodate all immerging issues, as their occurrence likelihood and/ or impact severity might change.

Report on outreach activities (opens in new window)

A report that will include project related articles in newspapers or magazines, material from public lectures, lectures to University students, schools, etc., and an open to public, one-day final workshop for stakeholders, relevant authorities, and the public.

Material from webinars (opens in new window)

A collection of all training material provided by the advanced partners in the selected topics after the completion of each AI-based and Research Management and Administration webinar.

AI-OBSERVER project’s website and logo (opens in new window)

The AI-OBSERVER website, equipped with a security area, will be developed and maintained by CLK in close collaboration with the coordinator, with the participation of all partners. It will provide an overview of the project, promote project’s objectives, dissemination activities, e-newsletters, and results to wider audiences. A project logo will also be created by CLK.

Electronic newsletters and brochure (opens in new window)

Three annual electronic newsletters and a project brochure in electronic format will be developed to communicate/disseminate the project's overview, goals, news, upcoming events, etc. All these will be accessible through the project's website.

Publications (journals and conference papers) (opens in new window)

A report that will include all publications in conferences and peer-reviewed journals, as well as participations in conferences via presentations and/or posters during the project.

Data Management Plan (opens in new window)

A report that will describes the data management life cycle for the data to be collected, processed and/or generated by the project. The DMP will include information on the handling of research data during and after the end of the project; the data that will be collected, processed and/or generated; the methodology that will be applied; the data accessibility, curation and preservation (including after the end of the project).
