Information on the microstructural properties and mechnical performance of the utilized mono-materials. The determined performance of the mono-materials is essential for the subsequent multi-material processing.
Design guidelines for each material combination (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This document will summarize all the guidelines as tolerances, dimensional accuracy and restrictions for manufacturing AM multi material components with the given material combinations on the specific use cases.
Definition of AM-grade feedstock requirements after recycling (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)Definition of acceptance criteria for AM-grade feedstock will be made. Qualification procedures will be defined for both virgin and recycled powder after the multi-material printing phase. The threshhold on feedstock’s contamination level will be evaluated after multi-material recycling and will be defined based on the properties of the printed parts.
Building and application of microscale simulation (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This Deliverable will focus on the development of a micro-scale thermo-mechanical simulation for bi-material configurations using in-house FEM software.
AM qualification protocols for multi-materials AM post-process (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)Establishing a post-processing qualification protocol for multi-material AM parts as a function of the chosen alloy and related to use-case requirements and specifications. Definition of guidelines for multi-material post-processing strategies.
Report and Data for the separation of two different powder materials. Evaluation of achievable powder purity and separation rate using screening and elutriation (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This document and data will summarize the effectiveness and achievable powder purity for elutriation and screening. The document will include general guidelines for the separation of powder mixture using these processes.
Experimental/ simulation comparison (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This report will focus on macro-scale experimental validation using XRD analysis
Building material identification and application of material transition scale simulation (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)It will present methodology and application of material properties identification to feed macro-scale simulations
Spreading of bi-material powder (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This report focuses on the DEM study of the behaviour of a bi-layer/multi-layered bi-material spreading and its interaction with a solid part.
Improving top surface bed quality (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This document reports on the progress made to optimize numerically by DEM the powder spreading, by improving the powder bed quality on the top surface of the solid part.
AM qualification protocols for multi-materials AM process (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)Definition and investigation of the qualification requirements of the interface zone in the multi-material parts and establishing a qualification protocol for multi-material AM processes as an outcome. Since the relevant AM standards are currently not considering multi-material PBF-LB/DED technologies, these gaps will be investigated and contributions on how to best address them will be made. Recommandations on how to best update the relevant standards will be communicated to the national standardization institution.
It will present methodology and application of material properties identification to feed macro-scale simulations.
Initial communication kit (website, factsheet, leaflet, etc.) (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)Webpage & description of MADE-3D webpage prepared in the first months of the project. Media kit including project promotional materials.
MVP of Optimisation and data science platform for transition zone MMAM (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)xT's objective is to develop an MVP of a data science platform called xT-AMI-MMAM and an ML-based technique to optimise the process parameters and develop a model from the data for multi-material additive manufacturing. The first stage would be to obtain relevant data and perform a workflow analysis (in this step we list and define the inputs and outputs) using the machine model and materials that the SLM solutions and Skyrora will use to optimise the transition zone for both the SLM and DED processes, respectively.Once the workflow has been set up on xT-AMI-MMAM, the next step would be to on-board the SLM Solution and Skyrora on xT-AMI-MMAM. Further, the users would be given access to the xT-AMi-MMAM.
FEM Simulation of thermal, magnetic, residual stresses on macro level for the components (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This report focusses on the FEM simulation of the topology optimized use case components regarding the thermal, magnetic and residual stresses on the marco level.
Optimized parameter sets for PBF-LB and DED for specific material combinations and powder fractions (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)The users would be able to set up the experiment on the xT_AMi-MMAM and carry out the iteration of print jobs with assistance from the xT team. xT-AMi-MMAM will assist users in score prediction, data modelling to overcome anomalies, and 3D plots to understand the co-relationship between the inputs and the outputs. The data analysis report will provide a summary of regions of interest, parameter importance analysis, and predicted best configurations.
Baseline powder: 100 kg FeSi/316L; 80kg Ti; 130kg IN718; 50 kg AlSi10Mg; 100kg CuCrZr (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)The tailor-made powder batches will be provided to the project partners based on the specific technological needs, to carry out first print runs.
Prototype material atomization: 30kg Nb; 15kg Fe(soft-mag.) / 15kg (non-mag.); 50 kg Al; 90 kg Cu (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)A second lot of tailor-made powder batches will be delivered to the project partners, to undergo the optmization process on the prototype materials.
Extension of the IZEO method to additive manufacturing process with multi materials considering the boundary design (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)This deliverable presents the extended IZEO method to enable the design and dimensioning of additively manufactures multi-material products considering the interface und uncertainty aspects as material properties and geometry.
