DIgital comPEtitive next Generation Aviation technologies for SUStainable business models, products and services.

Project description

Advanced technologies to redefine aerial transport

The EU-funded Di-PEGASUS project will boost the operation of seaplanes, vertical take-off and landing aircraft, and drones by fostering autonomous, cost-effective and eco-friendly technologies. Researchers plan to develop a digital platform to assess the viability of business models in specific locations based on available digital technologies and key performance indicators. This platform will also support the assessment of regulatory compliance, identifying safety assurance processes for new technologies and highlighting gaps in existing regulations. The ultimate goal is to provide valuable recommendations to policymakers and stakeholders.

Objective

Di-PEGASUS overall objective is to enable fully autonomous cost-effective and environmentally friendly operations for seaplanes, VTOL and drones. This objective will be achieved by developing several enabling technologies targeting both the air and the ground side. In addition, Di-PEGASUS proposes to develop a digital platform to evaluate the viability of specific business models at particular locations, according to the digital technologies available, and the Key Performance Indicators (incl. cost-effectiveness, job creation, emissions savings, investment costs), in order to make recommendations to policy makers and relevant stakeholders that will host these services. This platform should also support the assessment of regulatory compliance to identify the safety assurance process that the technologies will need to follow, as well as the gaps in existing regulations that will need to be addressed.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
