Livrables

Results from laboratory testing of VI-water storage system for all configurations. (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)

Works related to Integration with a heat pump as well as with solar thermal will be investigated and analyzed. Related tasks: 4.5.

Identification of the key energetic, environmental, and economic KPIs. (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)

The key performance indicators (KPI's) for evaluating and comparing the performance of components and system configurations of the reference technologies and proposed storage systems will be provided. KPI will be defined at component level, e.g., storage solutions as well as at system level considering the configurations defined in Task 2.2. The defined metrics will take into account environmental, technological, energetic and economic aspects such as: i) energy (share of renewable energy, fossil fuel savings, primary energy savings, CO2 emissions savings, peak load reduction, etc.); ii) technology (volumetric storage energy density, complexity, availability, durability, efficiency, etc.); iii) environment and safety (toxicity, explosivity, lifetime, etc.); iv) economics: cost-effectiveness in terms of pay-back period, levelized costs of storage (LCOS) and levelized cost of energy (LCOE). Related tasks: 2.3.

First version of simulation model of the thermo-chemical storage system. (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)

In this document modeling and simulation of the thermo-chemical energy storage will be realized. The detailed dynamic model of the TCM storage will characterize the absorber/desorber unit, the evaporator/condenser unit, the storage vessel, and the corresponding connections, as single components as well as connected modules based on physical, technical, and economic design aspects. The dynamic simulation models will support the design of the newly developed components, configure the system, and characterize optimal operation conditions (such as temperature levels) for the TCM storage system with a nominal charging/discharging capacity of 1 kW, which is conducted in Task 3.2. Related tasks: 3.1.

Current and future overview of technical market application. (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)

A literature review will be conducted to define the technological benchmarks to be outreached in the research project and to identify the research and development paths to achieve that. Based on existing experiences we will find successful solutions, best practices and barriers encountered. With this information we will identify future trends- Related tasks: 2.1. and 2.2.

Promising storage and system configurations and geographical cluster. (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)

D13 will be a geographical representation definition useful to identify regions that are mostly homogenous, regarding the applicable thermal storage technologies to satisfy the heat demands with a large share of renewable energy sources in a consumer’s cost-effective way. Also, The most promising system configuration of the technological modules in the thermal energy storage system will be identified based on the outcomes of Task 2.1 to form the basis for the technological developments in WP3 and WP4. Related tasks: 2.1. and 2.2.

Visual Identity. (s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)

BEST-Storage visual identity package shall be designed and include among others logo, report templates, editable leaflet, editable roll-up, newsletter templates, slide deck (etc.). The official website will be used both as a key communication and dissemination channel for the project and its results, as well as the main interface towards the target audience. Related tasks: 7.2.
