Formación innovadora en la lucha antiterrorista de la Unión Europea
El terrorismo se considera uno de los mayores retos en materia de seguridad para la Unión Europea (UE) y sus Estados miembros. En consecuencia, existe una necesidad vital de conocimientos y experiencia que permitan a la UE y a sus Estados miembros hacer frente con eficacia a las actuales amenazas terroristas. El equipo del proyecto EU-GLOCTER, financiado por las acciones Marie Skłodowska-Curie, pretende hacer frente al terrorismo en la UE y sus Estados miembros analizando la lucha antiterrorista de la UE a escala local, mundial y comunitaria. Siete beneficiarios y dieciocho socios colaborarán para impartir un programa de doctorado de categoría mundial a once doctorandos. El programa cuenta con la participación de destacados científicos sociales de diversas disciplinas, grupos de reflexión innovadores y socios industriales. Asimismo, EU-GLOCTER fomenta la excelencia científica y la innovación tecnológica en la lucha antiterrorista.
Objetivo
Terrorism remains one of the main security threats facing the European Union (EU) and its Member States, with a considerable impact on European societies. There is therefore a strong need for knowledge and expertise that will enable the EU and its Member States to effectively address the contemporary terrorist threat. The EU-GLOCTER (EUropean GLOCal Counter-TERrorism) Doctoral Network will produce the expertise that the EU and its Member States require to effectively address this threat. The research programme is highly innovative in its emphasis on analysing EU counter-terrorism through the lenses of ‘glocalism’ at different levels, ranging from the local through the EU to the global level, and in the crossing of the public-private sector boundaries. EU-GLOCTER brings seven beneficiaries with an excellent research track-record in counter-terrorism together with 18 Associated Partners from across the world in order to deliver a world-class PhD programme. The EU-GLOCTER project will train 11 doctoral candidates (DCs) using cutting-edge resources at leading research facilities, universities and think thanks throughout the EU and globally in the most important centres of power. The research programme involves world-leading social scientists (from a range of disciplines including political science, criminology, sociology, policing, and law) in combination with innovative think thanks and industry partners. The two main objectives of EU-GLOCTER are: (1) to provide world-class training to DCs in EU ‘glocal’ counter-terrorism - thinking globally, responding locally; and (2) to generate scientific excellence and technological innovation in the area of counter-terrorism.
