Resultado final

Intercomparison and evaluation from different angles of the regional and global model, building on the 2022 CAMS2_40 regional model intercomparison (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Merge regional emissions into global so as to run the global system with emissions that are comparable to those of the regional systems●Comparison of the simulated fields by the regional and global systems, evaluation against observational datasets●Evaluation of regional and global simulations of the intercomparison using remote sensing products such as AOD and tropospheric columns, depending on the relevance.

Best estimate of dust emissions through offline inversion (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Production and evaluation of posterior estimates of dust emission correction factors, using an ensemble of IFS simulations with perturbations in dust emissions.●Evaluation of a deterministic experiment which includes the optimised emission factors.

Plan for the exploitation and dissemination of results including communication activities (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

A dissemination and exploitation plan will be developed, outlining the dissemination activities as well as identifying the potential for exploitation and their routes. A dedicated Media and Communication Plan will be developed, outlining communication objectives, channels (including relevant social media channels), audiences and approach and providing scripts and templates for communication.

Implementation of new primary aerosol sources: sea-salt aerosol schemes from machine learning and chamber experiments (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Machine learning approach for sea-salt aerosol emissions in the IFS with possible use in regional models●Sea-salt aerosol emission schemes based on recent chamber experiments with possible use in regional models●Implementation into the IFS and SILAM of a scheme that represents high latitude dust●Development of a gridded version of the NORTRIP road dust emissions scheme and implementation into EMEP, EURAD-IM and LOTOS

Extended dry deposition scheme in LOTOS-EUROS (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Extension of the dry deposition scheme of LOTOS-EUROS

Implementation and verification of M7 modal scheme into operational IFS cycle (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Porting of M7 from OpenIFS 43R3 to a recent IFS cycle ●Verify model performance against existing reference model versions (OpenIFS and the offline TM5 model)

First assimilation of LIDAR/Ceilometer data into the IFS and evaluation (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Build on current infrastructure for lidar assimilation in the IFS with a view to the operational implementation of the observations.●Evaluate the performance of IFS experiments which only assimilate aerosol observations from lidars/ceilometers.

Report on the implementation of updated biogenic organic aerosol precursor emissions (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Update of the BVOC emissions system of the EMEP-MSC-W model●Integrate the BVOC emissions system into the IFS

Implementation of the Flow of Agricultural Nitrogen (FAN)v2 model in SILAM (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Implementation of FANv2 in SILAM, evaluation against regional inventories of ammonia emissions●Collection of activity data as an input to FANv2

0D dry deposition intercomparison (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●0D dry deposition intercomparison and evaluation with ground observations over different surfaces. Participant models are IFS, LOTOS-EUROS, GEM-AQ, SILAM, MATCH, MINNI.

Implementation of dust input in the observation operator used in ARPEGE-IFS for infrared brightness temperatures and monitoring of IASI observations (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Link the desert dust variable and the RTTOV observation operator in ARPEGE/IFS

Mid-term dissemination and exploitation report (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

The deliverable will report at mid-term on the activities in dissemination and exploitation, including updates to the plan.

First implementation and verification of EQSAM4Clim into IFS-M7 (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Implementation of EQSAM4Clim into IFS-M7, possibly scaling of IFS-M7 prognostic variables to derive some of the anions/cations input of EQSAM4Clim.

Report on the importance of biogenic aerosols (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

●Investigation and representation of other sources of biogenic VOC and SOA●Constrain biogenic aerosols and precursors using ground and remote sensing observations over selected areas

Data management plan (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

A Data Management Plan (DMP) will be developed within the first six months of the project and will set out the specifications for data, quality control, metadata generation, data access, data stewardship and how data will be maintained and preserved. The types of data that will be used or produced in the project are model simulations, as well emissions and deposition fields and observational datasets. The data of the project will comply as much as possible with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles.
