Resultado final

Sponge cell lines for at least 2 target species (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

For sponge cell line the process will be developped on Geodia barretti and then applied to another species of sponges targeted in the project: Haplosclerida or Crambeidae. WU will demonstrate the transfer of TRL from 2 to 4. This will represent a key output of task 3.2

Seaweed cell cultures for Dictyota sp. and Laurencia sp. (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

Hortimare will expand the current collection of brown and red seaweed species' gametophytes and sporophytes, which includes cultures of S. latissima, A. taxiformis and Palmaria palmata. This creates a stable supply of stable seaweed cultures to use as model species in developing protocols for the propagation of Dictyota sp. and Laurencia sp. The cultures of model species will be used for deliverable D3.6, co-culture system of seaweed cell lines. The set up cultures of Dictyota sp. and Laurencia sp. will contribute to all further research on terpene extraction and scaling up terpene production, for example D4.1, Annotation of terpenoids in Laurencia and Dictyota as well as the scaling up of cultures at UG. This will correspond to the change of TRL from 3 to 5. This will correspond mainly to task 3.1

A website will be developped for COMBO that will include a link towards a sharepoint and the webdatabase. This will be addressed early in the project and will address task 8.2

A logo and templates for presentations and leaflets will be developped for COMBO. This will be addressed early in the project and will address task 8.2

The first policy brief will detail the value of untapped natural marine resources for novel applications in the blue bioeconomy. To this end, recommendations of areas that need to be considered for special environmental protection will be identified. Predictions of hotspots for biodiversity and biodiscovery will be made and sites identified for protection. This will correspond to part of the work on task 8.1NKUA will contribute to this deliverable

A first report will be made about events organised within COMBO: workshops and outreach activities. This will be an important component of task 8.2NKUA will contribute to this deliverable

Genomic data and omics-based gene-to-molecule association algorithms will be used to link metabolites to putative biosynthetic genes in both the host and the microbiome, which can then be prioritized for experimental characterisation. It will be part of task 5.1

Details about the management of the project with input from all partners will be provided. A teams group will be created and guidelines will be provided about the management of the project as indicated in Task 1.1. The consortium agreement will also be signed

Annotation of alkaloids in sponges (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

GALWAY will develop a database of alkaloids: PGA from Crambeidae and 3-AP from Haplosclerida to be used for metabolomic studies on these groups MS/MS and NMR data will be stored. It will correspond to task 4.1 and will be enriched with the natural products isolated during the project and reported in D4.5

Annotation of acetogenins in Laurencia (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

A database of C15 acetogenins from Laurencia will be produced and this will correspond to the task 4.2

Identification of suitable seaweed and sponge candidates (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

A list of terpene-producing seaweeds and alkaloid-producing sponges will be sourced from the literature. Common species or closely related species in the same genera from the north west, north east and south east Atlantic will be given priority for collection so as to optimally benefit from partners from a wide geographic area. All specimens will be saved as vouchers and identified using morphology (microcopy) and a multigene barcoding approach. All barcodes will be uploaded onto Genbank. This will report part of the work from tasks 2.1

Annotation of terpenoids in Laurencia and Dictyota (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

GALWAY will prepare a database of metabolites from the two genera of seaweeds to be used during the metabolomic studies. MS/MS and NMR data will be generated and stored for model species of Dictyota and Laurencia. It will be part of task 4.1 as a first step but will be enriched later with data and compounds purified during the project in D4.6NKUA will contribute to this deliverable

Based on Product Environmental Footprint methodology, 16 environmental indicators will be calculated for key processes involved in bioactive compound extraction. A report will describe the methodology behind these process footprints, including system diagrams and life cycle inventories, to ensure full transparency and addressing task 7.1NKUA will contribute to this deliverable

Structures 4 families of metabolites for biological profiling (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

The first set of molecules from the 4 targeted families will be provided by GALWAY and MEDINA to MEDINA, UA and USC for biological profiling in order to address tasks 6.2 6.3 and 6.4NKUA will contribute to this deliverable

SOP will be developed for the extraction and purification of all 4 targeted families of natural products produced either by the holobiont from GALWAY or an associated bacteria/fungus from MEDINA. This will address task 6.1NKUA will contribute to this deliverable

Dissemination and communication plan will be developped including outreach activities and public engagement with all local partners especially where the samples are collected: South Africa, Ireland and French Guiana. This deliverable will capture information from tasks 8.1 and 8.2 and will be completed by D8.10

Certification for GMO manipulation and ABS (se abrirá en una nueva ventana)

Certification will be obtained for GMO by DTU and permits for ABS will be obtained for additional collections by GALWAY UCT and CNRS. This will be part of the ethical issues in COMBO and related to task 1.3

A second version of the data management plan will be elaborated before the first reporting period and will still contribute to task 1.2NKUA will contribute to this deliverable

A first version of the data management plan will be elaborated after 6 months of COMBO in task 1.2. It will be updated in the same task for the following deliverables 1.3 and 1.4

The webdatabase will be created for all samples collected and studied in COMBO and will correspond to Tasks 8.1 and 8.2 to disseminate the less sensitive information on a CMS. It will be linked to WP2. In WP2 2 deliverables will report all the information uploaded in the webdatase. Improvement is expected for the system until the end of the project
