ERA Chair Program to Advance Inflammation Research at IMBB-FORTH

Description du projet

The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) at FORTH stands as a beacon of scientific excellence in Greece. Despite commendable achievements, IMBB faces significant challenges, especially in the highly competitive field of biomedical sciences. Existing disparities between regional and European research approaches pose a hurdle that requires strategic alignment with broader European research initiatives. To address this, IMBB aims to foster cross-border collaborations, harmonize methodologies, and ensure its continuous presence at the forefront of scientific innovation. Insufficient training programs and a growing shortage of skilled personnel present additional major obstacles for IMBB. Persistent budget constraints hinder the institute's ability to maintain its research momentum and achieve innovative excellence. IMBB recognizes the importance of articulating and showcasing the real-world social and economic benefits of its scientific endeavours to bolster its reputation and garner sustained support. In response to these challenges, IMBB introduces InflaCare -an ambitious program designed to recruit and fully assimilate the ERA Chair holder and the InflaCare team. The program's objectives include enhancing the research capacity of IMBB, strengthening human capital, improving capabilities in competitive research funding, reversing brain drain, boosting the institute's innovation capacity, enhancing management and administrative competences, maximizing benefits from EU and national investments, raising IMBB's reputation, and promoting communication of R&I results. Collectively, the InflaCare program aims to empower the institute to leverage cutting-edge technologies, attract top-tier researchers, and cultivate collaborations that directly advance its research and innovation activities. The tangible improvements in healthcare outcomes will underscore IMBB's commitment to scientific excellence and its societal impact.
