Periodic Reporting for period 1 - X-Verter (X-Verter®: Cell-level Controlled Battery System enabling software defined power)
Período documentado: 2024-12-01 hasta 2025-11-30
The objective of the X-Verter project is to industrialise a cell-level controlled power conversion and storage technology that enables direct AC generation from batteries. Beyond efficiency gains, X-Verter is designed as a programmable and adaptable platform that can be configured through software to meet the requirements of diverse users, applications, and implementation areas. The project aims to mature the prototype into a market-ready product aligned with EU priorities on decarbonisation, grid modernisation, and energy resilience.
Functional prototypes were developed and tested to demonstrate step-wise sine wave generation directly from battery cells, validating the elimination of external power conversion stages.
Pre-compliance activities were initiated to set a certification strategy for the product. In parallel, early user feedback was implemented in the development plan to meet the requirements from the market. These activities significantly increased technology maturity and validated the feasibility of a flexible, software-defined BESS solution.
The results indicate strong potential to reduce energy losses, extend battery lifetime, and lower total cost of ownership. The adaptability of the system allows a single platform to serve multiple applications, including industrial power systems, microgrids, backup power, and renewable energy integration.
Further steps towards large-scale uptake include extended pilot deployments, full certification for selected applications, industrialisation, and access to scale-up financing. The project establishes a solid foundation for commercialisation in a rapidly growing global BESS market.
