SNS COLLABORATIVE OPERATIONS AND OUTPUT OPTIMISATION

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SNS CO-OP (SNS COLLABORATIVE OPERATIONS AND OUTPUT OPTIMISATION)

Reporting period: 2025-01-01 to 2025-12-31

The first prime objective of the SNS CO-OP project coordination and support work is to facilitate and support the activities of the European SNS Initiative as outlined in the SNS JU partnership contract and to do as much as possible to ensure its success.
During the life of the SNS CO-OP project, the project activities of the SNS JU will involve up to 80 projects running in parallel. These projects, and their participants, will be integrated into the SNS JU operational structure, signed up for the program level collaboration agreement and invited into the various cross-project workgroups and other programme level activities as is relevant to their workplans and the goals of the SNS JU.
In addition to this the SNS CO-OP project will assist the preparation work for subsequent phases of the SNS JU whereby analysis of the programme coverage and emerging project results can be fed back into the preparation work for future phases of the SNS JU.
The second prime objective of the SNS CO-OP project is to orchestrate and organise strategic activities to maintain a dialogue in the wider European 6G SNS community to capture and promote the European Industry view on 6G, the achievements of the 6G SNS initiative and projects, and to promote the ambitions of the SNS JU Office.
These objectives can be organised around three thematic aspects of the SNS CO-OP project work that can be considered as having different targets and impacts: “The Strategic Objectives”, “The community diaspora work (external & internal)”, and “The operational, logistics and support work”.
Main achievements in RP1 include the continued support of the operation of the SNS community (SB, TB, Comms TF, WGs) and maintained the structure and options that enable meeting, interacting, collaborating, exchanging ideas, preparing joint outputs and contributions, and disseminate the results. Project representatives in the SB, TB and WGs have been encouraged to prepare joint technical papers, whitepapers or other publications, and also to present outputs in the form of webinars or workshops. The preparation of the SNS Key Achievements on the SNS web and as a brochure has been a highlight among these activities. Innovative web technologies for dynamic and on-demand display of content have been employed. Based on the information collected from the SNS projects through the questionnaires, SNS CO-OP performed a gap analysis roadmapping, the results of which assisted the development of the follow up SNS work programme 2026. NetworldEurope as the body in charge of drafting and publishing the NetworldEurope SRIA – a major input to the SNS Work programmes has been supported.
In terms of outreach, SNS CO-OP coordinated with European National Initiatives via monthly meetings, events sessions (e.g. EuCNC’25), podcasts, and a comprehensive webinar series. The SNS Journal 2025 has been produced and distributed at EuCNC’25. Practical measures and outcomes resulted from joint activities and exchanges with decision makers, in 2025 with relevant peer partnerships and Joint Undertakings: CHIPS JU, Photonics21, and EuroHPC JU, shaping future SNS JU work programmes. Strong and sustained European presence at high-profile international events has been supported e.g. at MWC 2025, EuCNC 2025, India Mobile Congress, Mobile Korea, CEATEC, the Brooklyn 6G Summit, multiple targeted EU–Asia workshops.
For the operational support work, a support infrastructure (web, document repository, mailing lists, web conferencing tools) has been supported and is being managed. Continuous user support, access management and compliance monitoring with no service outages for nearly 80 SNS projects and hundreds of participating organisations. The SNS website as a focal point for SNS news and information has been maintained in partnership with the SNS JU Office.
