POst-quantum SEcure dIgital iDentities for EurOpean solutioNs

Objective

To advance towards the strategic goal of achieving both a tangible and effective increase in cybersecurity/resilience and a more secure online environment across the EU with technological sovereignty, a fundamental pillar will be the implementation of a secure and efficient transition from pre- to post-quantum cryptography sustained on tools implementing a hybrid approach.
POSEIDON will pave a credible pathway in this regard by developing novel digital technological capabilities in this domain, and by evaluating them in realistic high-impact scenarios. The developed techniques will innovate at the level of more mature, scalable PQC algorithms including HW optimization and support, identity protocols based on them, and methodologies to facilitate integration in different systems. They will support to the maximum extent protection of data both at rest and in transit (confidentiality, integrity, authenticity) and will implement measures and provide application-oriented recommendations to incumbent stakeholders and fora (institutional level like NIS PQC subgroup and EUDI Cooperation Group, public-private partnerships, associations like ECSO with Working groups dealing with cybersecurity priorities, among others) for the widespread industrial adoption of post-quantum crypto. Specifically, POSEIDON will focus on providing robust and reliable solutions in digital identity management applications, given the critical importance of protecting citizens and businesses against the rising threats of identity-centric cyberattacks (i.e. identity compromises and misuse of valid credentials among others. POSEIDON will address the provision of crypto-agile, PQC-ready identity tools in a moment where new applications are being introduced for pan-European digital identity aligning with EU advancements and security policy like NIS2, CRA, CSA, etc

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
