AI-Driven Agent-Based Assembly Planning and Optimisation

Objective

The manufacturing process is evolving to meet demands for adaptability and efficiency, but challenges in design and assembly
persist. Decentralized systems like PDM, PLM, and ERP scatter essential data, causing errors and delays, increasing production costs by 20%, and consuming up to 50% of production time. Moreover, the lack of integration between design and manufacturing leads to
inefficiencies, with assembly insights rarely influencing the design phase, contributing to 30-50% of employee costs. Current tools like
DWI and CAP fall short in addressing these issues, leading to outdated instructions and fragmented information, which exacerbate
inefficiencies.
At Assemblio, we are addressing these gaps with our AI-APOA (Assembly Planning and Optimisation Agent), a digital twin of the
design process that integrates data from systems like CAD, PDM, PLM, and ERP into a unified framework. AI-APOA combines the D-
BOM, E-BOM, and M-BOM, allowing real-time modifications and seamless feedback between design and manufacturing. This system
generates interactive 3D assembly instructions, reducing errors and speeding up production , with a reduction in
assembly sequencing mistakes.
AI-APOA also enhances product life-cycle management by tracking detailed data for recycling and resource recovery.
Through AI-driven design capabilities, AI-APOA improves product design efficiency, offering time savings in assembly
planning and cost savings. Additionally, it reduces employee training time and automates documentation, eliminating manual errors.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

HORIZON-EIC-ACC - HORIZON EIC Accelerator

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
