Objective
ARMS is the abbreviation for Advanced Romanian Mobilisation Scheme. The overall objective of ARMS is to increase the quality of "Carol Davila University of Medicine - Research centre on the pathology and treatment of the systemic rheumatic diseases" (RCRD) in order to better participate in the 6th Framework programme. There are four main directions that ARMS intends to cover: Networking with other research centres from EU Member States or Associated Countries. We intend both to strength the already establi shed links and to develop new ones in order to integrate our centre (RCRD) into the European Research Network according to our profile. Increasing the quality of RCRD team by: identifying and hiring new high potential young researchers; organising meetings and workshops in order to offer them new opportunities to learn and also to present their work. Increasing the quality of S&T equipment in order to allow our researchers to approach new research themes from the FP6 priorities. Mobilisation of other researchers from Romania (currently not involved in RCRD projects) to establish connection with us, to prepare cooperative activities, to give them access to our new acquired equipment and joint in RTD proposals. Above these, ARMS has distinct packages fo r the involvement of academia and the improvement of the gender balance among the Romanian scientists and to show to the future potential researchers that a research career is equally accessible for women. The research management will also be improved in order to be able to support our research team in its efforts both at the financial and organizational level. The final result of ARMS project will be a Research center better prepared to participate in the 6th Framework Programme and able to attract new-e ntry or experienced scientists from Romania and abroad.
