Optimisation of a novel software tool for automation of the design & verification process of semiconductor development

Project description

Revolutionising error-free semiconductor development in Europe

In the intricate world of semiconductor development, a seemingly minor defect can snowball into a catastrophe, with potentially billions at stake. Errors that slip through during the chip’s development phase manifest in every unit produced, causing monumental losses if discovered too late. In response, the EIC-funded OverSemi project is addressing the semiconductor market’s lag. LUBIS EDA is developing software that guarantees a flawless chip development process. By automating design and verification, this innovative approach ensures reliability, speed, and cost-effectiveness. The project aims to optimise the software for broader use, offering it through a licensing-based model, ultimately boosting revenues and ensuring safer chip development in the EU semiconductor industry.

Objective

If a defect remains undetected in the development process of a chip, it will be carried over to the physical production and will be present in every unit produced. If discovered too late, the manufacturer incurs in a loss that can reach billions. Even if it can be corrected, market entry would be delayed, resulting in additional losses. In a reality where the EU semiconductor market is lagging behind, LUBIS EDA is developing a software that ensures that future chips are developed more reliably, faster, and with a mathematically proven 0% chance of errors. By automating the design & verification process of chip development, LUBIS’ unique procedure enables exceptional cost-effectiveness and faster time-to-market for semiconductor developers, maximising their revenues and ensuring safe and reliable development. Within this project, LUBIS will optimise its software and make it accessible to a broader audience, enabling its market introduction through a licensing-based business model.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
