Project description
Innovative energy-saving dryer for pulp mills
Paper production, sludge processing, and textile recycling are high energy consumers and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generators. The EU-funded SuperDryer project proposes a breakthrough clean fibre drying system that reduces energy use and GHG emissions in the above-mentioned sectors. The product is the first fibre dryer to integrate renewable energy inputs, leading GHGs to zero, using a patented closed-loop heat and moisture recapture system recovering 100 % of heat, stopping 100 % of airborne emissions, and reducing energy use by 25 % compared to existing dirty driers. SuperDryer initially targets pulp and paper mills and recyclers. The project will pilot the first full-scale unit in a working paper mill and reach commercialisation.
Objective
SuperDryer is a breakthrough clean fiber drying system to reduce energy use and GHG emissions in paper production, sludge processing and textile recycling. It will be the first fiber dryer to integrate renewable energy inputs, cutting GHGs to zero.
It uses a patented closed-loop heat and moisture recapture system to recover 100% of heat, stop 100% of airborne emissions, and reduce energy use by 25% compared to existing dirty driers.
TM Systems has 100+ experts developing innovative energy-saving equipment. Its installed technology already saves 1 nuclear power plant worth of energy annually.
Initial customers will be pulp and paper mills and recyclers, with several interested buyers. Future customers will be municipal and industrial sludge processors, and textile recyclers.
TM Systems has prototyped and validated SuperDryer. In this project it will pilot the first full-scale unit in a working paper mill and reach commercialization.
