M80 - an hybrid-electric regional commercial aviation Aircraft

Project description

The first hybrid-electric commercial aviation aircraft

Sustainable aviation is important for the EU. Denmark and Sweden have set a target to achieve 100% fossil-free domestic flights by 2030. Given that developing a new aircraft typically takes 8-10 years, it is imperative to commence work immediately if the EU intends to meet its environmental and sustainability objectives, including zero-emission aviation. Funded by the European Investment Council, the Maeve M80 project is dedicated to the creation and commercialization of the world’s first hybrid-electric aircraft for the commercial aviation market, capable of decarbonizing existing flight routes in the regional aviation segment. It’s Maeve’s mission to reduce more than 50 MT of CO2 from commercial routes before 2040. M80 can accommodate 80 passengers and cover distances of up to 1.482 km, and is aimed for entry-into-service in 2031.
