Project description
Real-time elemental analysis for the metal industry
The metal industry relies on slow, expensive and manual processes for quality control. Producers and manufacturers need advanced decision intelligence and elemental analysis solutions. The EU-funded IREAS project proposes the use of DTE’s unique and proprietary chemical composition analysis technology. This technology combines liquid-phase laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LP-LIBS™) with a predictive AI-based cloud platform, which is the engine of DTE’s metals intelligence ecosystem. Using this technology, elemental analysis data generated on the metals production plant floor is converted into real-time intelligence. This intelligence is then supplied to both management and operators on the plant floor for decision making purposes. Additionally, the data is fed back into the process and business systems for forward-looking process control and business management.
Objective
IREAS, DTEs Real-time Intelligence from Liquid Metals Solution combines DTEs unique and only in the market proprietary chemical composition analysis based on Liquid-Phase Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LP-LIBS) technology with a predictive AI-based cloud platform, engine of DTEs metals intelligence ecosystem. IREAS converts elemental analysis data generated on the metals production plant floor into intelligence. This intelligence is not only supplied in real-time to management and operators on the plant floor for decision making, but is also fed back into the process and business systems for forward-looking process control and business management.
The solution contributes to maximising value, sustainability, safety, and efficiency along the end-to-end value chain, for all stakeholders in the metals industry.
DTEs market target is the 3.5Trillion metals industry with initial focus on the aluminium (255BN/y) while working towards the iron and steel market (950BN/y).
