Final Report Summary - DANSEINCELL (Modeling cytoplasmic trafficking and molecular delivery in cellular microdomains)

During this ERC 2007 grant, we have developed mathematical methods (probability and differential equations) to study the early steps of viral infection in cell at the single particle level. We developed novel algorithms to extract biophysical properties from many random trajectories. We also studied the organization of the cell nucleus by deriving new physical laws for chromatin dynamics, single locus motion and the search for hidden sites, by transcription factors.
The mathematical methods we developed are novel asymptotic methods for partial differential equations, analysis of stochastic processes and novel computational methods in polymer physics and numerical simulations.
