Objective
RESNITERS project main objective is to change the image of scientists in the society by means of the European Researchers’ Night. On 26th Sept. 2008 - during the event researchers will be the active participants and animators showing themselves not only as laboratory people but mainly as ordinary ones – playing with kids, talking to youngsters etc. RESNITERS will bring researchers closer to the society by presenting in a practical way how important is the science in a daily life. Shows and workshops will be the ideal means for reaching the audience of all ages with the message of attractiveness of science. The usual image of a researcher is based on stereotypes. They are usually considered as a closed group dealing with issues having not much in common with a real world. As a consequence, becoming a researcher is not a dream career for young people, who prefer open professions with almost a guarantee to self-development in the evolving global context. Showing the possibilities for researchers in the European Research Area and initialising the idea for such a career makes RESNITERS role even more significant. The best way of fighting against the stereotypes is bringing together the abovementioned groups in scope of an initiative showing serious things in an eye-catching and festive way. There is a great interest in such an event in Poznan. On the basis of previous edition RESNITERS estimates that around 10.000 people will take part in the Researchers’ Night 2008. Two project partners involved in last year activities long after the event still received a lot of requests for another Researchers’ Night in Poznan, to be organised as soon as possible. RESNITERES responds both to the general public needs and interest in science and of researchers finding themselves at a right place as reachable stars of the Night. As a result scientific career will no longer be the great unknown and last and least option to choose for life, it will become a fascinating adventure.
