Objective
The project is addressing a service consisting of two parts:
- a marketing strategy to help small and medium travel agent enterprises to efficiently communicate with potential suppliers (such as tour operators), consumers (i.e. travellers) and other travel agents across Europe, and
- the appropriate linguistic IT tools to help them follow this strategy. These state-of-the-art tools will utilise multimedia and network technology.
The project is addressing as a user of the service a representative Greek travel agent involved for years in the cross-border tourist market. The company has a business plan of expanding its business in countries where the language spoken is other than the in-house but facing difficulties because of the different language and cultural background. In order to assist in the gathering of the gathering of authentic user needs and in the validation and dissemination of the results the project is sponsored by the Panhellenic Federation of Tourist Enterprises.
The proposed service will help the user to develop and use an efficient marketing strategy in order to communicate with potential suppliers such as tour operators, consumers, such as travellers and other travel agents across Europe and world-wide. Because of the great amount of travel agents across Europe (more of 80,000), a modest estimation shows that the above strategy will help the travel agent to increase the potential suppliers and customers at least by 30% in a period of 2-3 years.
The service will utilise state-of-the-art linguistic tools such as Translation-Aid Tools, Automatic Term Recognition, of Multilingual Texts as well as World Wide Web and Multimedia Technology. Multilingual advertising and promoting material on Web, CD ROM and paper, electronic and script multilingual document templates for the exchange of specific information and linguistic reference lexicons based on existing of tourist marketing terminology will be produced.
