Objetivo Entangled states of many particles are arguably the ultimate feature of quantum mechanics. Such states, promise to deepen our understanding of fundamental aspects of the quantum world and its transition to the classical, as well as the realization of fault-tolerant and resource-efficient quantum computers. We propose to experimentally investigate both fundamental and practical aspects of multi-particle entanglement with strings of 10 to 20 trapped atomic ions (40Ca+). This fellowship will help to strengthen QIP research in the European Union while acquiring the expertise of the fellow.
