Final Report Summary - SMARTDRUGENTITIES (Sophisticated Well-Targeted Therapeutic Entities based on Biologically Compatible Ti(IV) Active Cores and Building Blocks)
In this project, we have developed new titanium(IV) complexes that demonstrate the desired combination of several features:
1. High anticancer activity, exceeding that of clinically used drugs by up to two orders of magnitude.
2. Activity towards cells that are resistant to known drugs.
3. Selectivity to tumor tissue.
4. High stability of months under biologically-relevant conditions.
Additional mechanistic aspects that have been revealed contribute to the overall great potential of the developed compounds for anticancer medicinal applications.
