Bayes or Bust: Sensible Hypothesis Tests for Social Scientists

Final Report Summary - BAYES OR BUST! (Bayes or Bust: Sensible Hypothesis Tests for Social Scientists)

The goal of the project "Bayes or Bust" was to develop and promote rational methods for statistical inference in the social sciences. In the course of this project, new methods were developed and old methods were rediscovered. These methods are useful to assess replication success, to gauge the effectiveness of medical treatments, to conduct meta-analyses, to update knowledge, and to include important advance information. In order to make these tools accessible to social scientists we have developed the open-source software package JASP (jasp-stats.org). JASP has a drag-and-drop interface that makes it straightforward to take advantage of the pragmatic benefits that a Bayesian analysis affords.
