LINKs between Researchers and Society

Objective

The LINKeRS project aims at enhancing public recognition of researchers' work and of the benefits that science and research bring to society. The main idea of the project, which will take advantage of synergies with the events of Italia 150 and profit of the heritage of ESOF 2010, is to invite researchers from Piedmont, Italy and Europe, to establish links between the world of science and society, in particular young people. A rich and wide range of activities, involving young and communicative researchers, as well as more experienced scientists, will be offered, including open-air experiments, performances, talkshows, guided visits to science museums and laboratories, Pizza with the Prof, school contests.
LINKeRS will create a genuine atmosphere to share experience among reasearchers and the general public, in order to raise consciousness about science and at the same time stimulate scientists to communicate their work and make science more understandable and closer to people. The impact of the event will be carefully monitored and assessed by questionnaires based on performance indicators, from which indications for future activities and science communication strategies will be obtained.
