Virtual Cyber-Physical Systems

Final Report Summary - VICYPHYSYS (Virtual Cyber-Physical Systems)

A cyber-physical systems (CPS) are a systems in which a network of tightly interconnected computational elements collaborate to control a physical phenomenon. Unlike more traditional embedded systems, a CPS is typically designed as a network of interacting elements with physical input and output instead of as standalone devices. Hence, a proper design of such systems requires understanding the joint dynamics of computers, software, networks, and physical processes.

Within the ViCyPhySys project, we focused on the holistic design of CPS. The fellow has undergone an intense training program. The training included:
- attending highly qualified courses at Lund University,
- participating to leading conference on a broad range of disciplines (POPL, RTSS, CDC, just to mention a few),
- the preparation of a course on “Advanced Real-Time Systems” for PhD students.

The fellow has extended his research area over: control systems, cloud computing, adaptive resource management.

Thanks to the research developed within this research project, we published 4 journal papers and 7 papers in conference proceedings, plus 3 journal submissions are awaiting for an evaluation.
