Effects of the Channel tunnel on the structure of traffic flows

Ziel

- To develop an appropriate methodology to monitor the quantitative and qualitative trends in traffic flows between the United Kingdom and the continent.

- To define a coherent and coordinated framework to observe these traffic flows.

CURRENT STATUS

The Management Committee is conducting a critical assessment of available statistical data and a survey of participating States' intentions with regard to data gathering.

WORK PLANNED

The programme's third and fourth phases will be launched in Autumn 1990 and will examine how data gathering can be better harmonized and coordinated. They will also look into specific solutions for effective and coordinated "exante-expost" monitoring of cross-Channel flows.
