Objective
Reliability of the service, in terms of punctuality, operability and availability of the ship, is the attribute that most contribute to the efficiency of waterborne transport. In order to increase the reliability of maritime shipping, several aspects can bee addressed one of which is the performance of the ship that, in its turn, depends on both design and operational factors. Aim of the project is to improve ships? performance addressing those operational factors that are connected to operability and availability of the ship herself. This will be achieved by the development of a decision support system which is able to address these elements and which is conceived for installation on both new constructions and existing ships thus addressing the competitiveness of both the EU ship manufacturing sector (new ships) and the EU ship operators (existing ships).
