Lithuanian Network on Food Quality and Safety

Objective

The present proposal aims to contribute substantially to the Integration and Strengthening of the European Research Area in the field of food safety, food quality control, knowledge-based multifunctional materials and new production processes and devices, by means of specific support actions in Lithuania. These actions will be implemented to stimulate Food Quality priority area. It will involve the screening of research establishments active in Food Quality area, promotion of Lithuanian competencies, support to Lithuanian researchers to participate in consortia building, to prepare proposals, information, awareness and training activities, prospective studies aimed at defining research policies and organisation of research systems, and most importantly the establishment of a Lithuanian Food Quality network (LIT-FQSN), and implementation of networking between the LIT-FQSN institutions, and between LIT-FQSN and four well-known, European Food Quality Research centres. The planned supporting activities will address not only cross cutting horizontal issues such as development and implementation of research and innovation strategies, trans-national technology transfer and related services, but also a wide range of other related activities to promote dissemination, information and communication activities (workshops, seminars, awards and competitions), gender issues and ethical aspects. The planned actions will be coordinated by the Lithuanian Institute of Biochemistry in close collaboration with all Lithuanian research institutes and other institutions, which are carrying out high quality research in the Food Quality field. The participating European Food Quality Centres will act not only as advisory organisations for the LIT-FQSN researchers, but will also be actively involved in future scientific collaborations within the frame of European and bilateral joint research projects and programmes.
