Final Report Summary - LIFE2YEARS1066 (10/66 ten years on – monitoring and improving health expectancy by targeting frailty among older people in middle income countries)
We have succeeded in establishing and implementing the methodologies and procedures for what has been the most technically complex and ambitious of 10/66 Dememtnia Research Group surveys to date. We have obtained ethical approvals, sourced and delivered equipment, trained research staff, and completed the field research in all sites. We have been active in disseminating news about the project, it design and objectives in a variety of fora, an to a wide range of stakeholders (academic, clinical, civil society, policymakers and public), in the UK and Europe, North America, Latin America, India and China.
We have completed 8,668 interviews in our epidemiological survey interviews from a target door-knocked registration sample of 12,320. We still have work to do to validate the survey databases preliminary to completing analyses nd publishing outputs.
While awaiting finalisation of field research and validation of data bases, we have worked on analyses of existing data from the first two waves of the 10/66 survey that are formative and informative of the LIFE2YEARS1066 objectives.
We have analysed partial data from the LIFE2YEARS1066 surveys that give clear indications of sizeable secular trends in social circumstances, health and social care, risk factor exposure, morbidity, disability, and dependence. Regardless of the end of project funding, the project team is fully committed to finalising the cleaning of completed interview data, analysing these data, and publishing outputs according to our pre-prepared plans.
