Bio entrepreneur boot camp: starting life science companies

Objective

The Life Sciences scientific community needs a lot of support in new and candidate member countries to change culture about the ways to commercialise research results and increase the number of SME's, and promote collaboration between academia and SMe's. The goal of Bioentrepreneur Boot camp is to help new member and candidate states to create more Life Sciences based companies, by providing the necessary knowledge and support to scientists of these countries to discover, understand and apply the methods needed to create sustainable start-up companies. This will be achieved by offering a two steps "Boot camp": Step1 will provide participants enough knowledge of the eomy of a start-up for their future entrepreneurial life and helps them to avoid most common mistakes. Step 2 offers the opportunity to prepare the business plan of real projects that can reach the market, with experienced specialists, coaches with strong track records in the Life Sciences enterprises area. Participants in step 1 are scientists from Academia interested in setting up a company or involved in technology transfer from University or sidering joining structures like incubators. All of them need to acquire the basics of eomics of Life sciences based start-ups. Participants in step 2 are will be entrepreneurs who already attended the Bioentrepreneur Boot Camp for beginners or Biobiz workshop or have acquired the basics of entrepreneurship in Life Sciences and have started to prepare a business plan. After completing such boot camp, participants will be ready to present to investors with a very high chance of success. To adapt to new European text, Eurobiobiz plans to deliver Bioentrepreneur Boot camp over 28 month, starting January 2007, with a focus on new members, associated and candidate countries: 12 "Bioentrepreneur Boot Camp for beginners" to train 100 European scientists 8 "Bioentrepreneur executive Boot Camp", helping 80 entrepreneurs to make their business plan.
