Objective
The project will produce the first of a collection of CD-ROMs for small- and medium-sized businesses within the plastics transformation industry. The objective is to provide them with access to more relevant and up-to-date information from their industry sector, thus permitting an improvement in their levels of competitivity within the international market.
The first CD-ROM will address th injection moulding process and include data on current materials suppliers and distributors, tool and machinery manufacturers and technical characteristics of tooling and raw materials. An important part of the CD-ROM will be devoted to demonstrations of injection processes through 3D simulation. Users will be able to navigate through each stage of the transformation process and gain access to optimisation processes, materials required and suppliers of materials and machinery.
Further planned CD-ROMS will cover topics such as extrusion; thermoforming; rotary moulding techniques; environmental weathering of plastics; plastics recycling; quality control applied to the plastics transformation sector; plastics applications within the medical industry; packing and packaging.
