Integrated waste to energy management for preventing global warming

Objective

The proposed project aims to deliver schemes, research and educational tools for economic and environmental evaluation waste to energy conversion, integration or the other renewable sources of energy and application in the industry and city of the future. European industrial and domestic sectors stimulates introduction of more efficient and advanced waste to energy management systems to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency and to effectively utilise waste energy sources. It is an interdisciplinary project with several major parts: -Integrated Energy Management Framework in Waste to Energy -Life cycle analysis and supply chain analysis -The other and complementary Renewable Energy generation and management options -CO2 emissions reduction and mitigation exploiting IT tools - Integration of Renewable sources of Energy Into Energy Supply Chain - Optimum maintenance and availability -Workflows of Waste to Energy Management including the other renewables integration A MSc course will be developed, tested and made available for teaching and training in the field. The course full documentation including e-learning features and lecture handouts will be provided. The proposed Chair Holder research experience includes research in mathematical model ling, optimisation, energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, environmental protection and sustainability measures and process integration, and has extensive experience of managing major European and world-wide scale research and training projects. A synergy with the other EC project where the Chair Holder is involved will be used ' namely with EMINET Project 'Early Market Introduction of New Energy Technologies in liaison with Science and Industry'. As an important dissemination tool will be used an International Conference of Process Integration, Modelling and Simulation for Energy Saving and Pollution reduction ' PRES ' of which the Chair Holder is the Chairman.
