EU bioenergy policies and their effects on rural areas and agriculture policies

Objetivo

Bioenergies are the all-rounders among the renewables, since only biomass is equally suitable for the generation of electricity and heat and the production of fuels. Currently biomass accounts for about two thirds of renewable energy production in the EU. The agricultural and forestry sectors can make a key tribution to meeting these targets. The aim of SSA is firstly to analyse and understand the socio-eomic, environmental and societal issues of EU bioenergy policies and their effects on future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and how they fit into the cept of sustainable rural development. Sedly, the aim is to develop cornerstones for future policy-making fostering the production of large volumes of biomass in agriculture and ensuring sustainable (environmentally friendly and socially acceptable) development of rural areas at the same time. AGRINERGY aims to: " bring together policymakers, decision makers, stakeholders, and scientists of the CAP, the development of rural areas and EU bioenergy policies areas to develop a common language and understanding and to establish a co-operation in order to develop cornerstones for future policy-making fostering the production of large volumes of biomass in agriculture and ensuring sustainable (environmental friendly and social acceptable) development of rural areas at the same time; " discuss future needs and options in order to guarantee a sustainable biomass production for energy production; " analyse and understand the socio-eomic, the environmental and the science-society issues related to bioenergy systems use and the development of future rural areas.
