Integration of gender dimension in water management in the Mediterranean

Final Report Summary - INGEDI (Integration of gender dimension in water management in the Mediterranean)

The INGEDI project addressed Mediterranean water management and development sectors and aimed to motivate and improve the dialogue towards gender integration in sustainable agriculture.

The project encouraged the promotion of new policies on gender issues and enhanced the cooperation between northern and southern Mediterranean countries in this field. Moreover, collaborations and partnerships for the improvement of rural women's working conditions and for their active involvement in water resources' management were established. The undertaken workload was very intensive, given the limited project duration. INGEDI activities consisted of the organisation of targeted workshops and the publication of the proceedings and of a handbook. In addition, a website was launched to assist knowledge dissemination.

The project was successfully completed with the required impact, since it reinforced relations among many international organisations and institutions involved in the promotion of gender issues in water management.
