Objective
The goal of the Specific Support Action CROnet-days is to facilitate and enhance the meeting between the Contract Research Organisations of European Research Area in Surface Transport Area (road, rail, waterborne, intermodality). It aims at : - enhancing t he creation of RD and Innovation projects in ERA - initiating european partnerships (FP6 Integrated Projects and Network of Excellence, Eureka, bi- or tri- national projects) - increasing technology transfert and synergies inter-CRO (sharing and combining knowledge, know-how, software, hardware, facilities, human ressources) - networking on common RD areas by enabling cross-fertilisation of ideas and capabilities between the different surface transport modes Contract Research Organisations are major actors of technology RD and innovation , but are too fragmented. Very few individual CROs or companies that can reasonably claim to respond to challenges in RD sector due to increasing complexity and interdisciplinarity critical mass. For this purpose, support fr om EC is needed to initiate the networking process, so to integrate CROs efficiently in European Research Area. Beneficials results are also expected to stimulate high tech and medium tech SMEs on specific niche technology through their participation in CR O network and partnership. This objective will be achieved by organising a two-days "Surface Transport" CRO meeting in Nantes, including several general presentations, specific session on horizontal aspects (consortium agreement, intellectual property righ ts,...) as well as one to one technical and business sessions. Besides enhancing networking process, additional outcomes of this event will be an address book including numerous European CROs able to be active in the field of Surface Transport, and delive ry of recommendations for future actions from advisory group (open to external experts).
