Silicon technology access to research

Objective

The project is aiming to establish a world-wide recognized and unique European-based Research Platform for advanced silicon research and development. The set-up of the overall joint research platform is ambitious and necessary to keep Europe at a world wi de top-level. This will be done by extending the infrastructure within the 300mm compatible process driven research pilot-lines under construction at IMEC, CEA/LETI and FhG-IISB with mainly complementary equipment, and by cross-linking the three new rese arch facilities for an optimized wafer exchange enabling the operation of a so-called ' distributed processing facility'. This European Research Platform will be accessible to the academic research community allowing them to make use of state-of-the-art e quipment in order to boost up their own research programmes and/or enter in joint development programmes. This European global access will safeguard and further strengthen the leading European role in important research fields related to advanced silicon processing, emerging devices and nanotechnology. The final objectives are the enabling of state-of-the-art hands-on training for young researchers, post-docs and senior staff members, the possibility to perform cost effective advanced research and to enh ance the increased mobility of researchers within Europe and from outside Europe towards Europe.'

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
