Objectif
1) Organisation Institution: Ministry of Economic Affaires, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
2) Time and place: 12 and 13 October 2004, Hotels van Oranje Congress Centre (booked).
3) Context: the high-level conference " Investing in research and innovation" is one of the official events of the Dutch EU-presidency. It will be the aim of the Dutch presidency to give a significant contribution to the structural reflection on the future of the European Research Area and more specifically on the progress of the implementation of the 3% Action Plan.
4) Purpose and focus: the central theme of the Conference will be: how to enhance industry-science relationships as an effective way to raise investments in R&D to 3% of the GDP in Europe.
- 12 October a special event consisting of two parts will be organised for Directors-General responsible for the fields of enterprise, innovation and research. The first part aims for an inspiring encounter between visions from EU member states. Aim is to create an open discussion, with challenging statements from experts, a perspective on the future of Europe by addressing the theme " Lisbon 2010 and beyond". The afternoon program will be organised around the implementation of the 3% action plan and the OMC. CREST fulfils an important task in facilitating this process of OMC. Aim is to progress towards the implementation of the CREST recommendations and to improve the effectiveness of the second cycle of OMC.
- 13 October targets 5 key issues which are crucial to enhance public private interaction as an effective way to raise investments in \R&D. Through high level presentations by industry, academia and government policy recommendations and best practices will be given on the subject in genera l and 5 specific themes (IPR, State aid framework, SME and R&D, intersectoral mobility of researchers, public private partnerships of excellence). Stakeholders of industry, science and government are invited.
