Objective
"This project will bring together researchers and the general public in an informal and festive manner under the banner of the Researchers' Night 2013. The objective is to broaden the public's understanding of the effect and importance that research has in our lives and to address possible stereotypical views on researchers and their work. This will be done by arranging a range of activities on September 27, 2013, which facilitate interaction between researchers and the public. A number of activities are planned to accomplish this objective revolving around the theme Food. The European Corner will be centrally placed in the venue, where the European aspect of the event will be highlighted and promotional material on European Research will be presented. Science Café, Science Show, guided tour, exhibitions, debates, hands on experiments and announcements of winners of a drawing and research dissemination competition are also among the activities that will lead to the accomplishment of the objective of the project.
To ensure that a maximum number of people will be aware of the festivities on the Researchers’ Night, a comprehensive awareness campaign will be planned. A Researchers’ Night Newspaper will be distributed to all households in the Faroe Islands. Other awareness activates such as posters, banners, press coverage, social media and internet facilitation will are part of the campaign.
A comprehensive impact assessment will be conducted of the different parts of the project. To manage the project the sole applicant has set up an advisory committee that will ensure a smooth and effective planning and implementation of the project."
