Advanced MAP Mining Communication System

Objective

The objective of the AMICOS project is to develop OSI-compliant communications technology for process control and monitoring in the coal-mining industry.

The approach will be based on the "Integriertes Steuerungs- und Uberwachungssystem" (ISU) communications profile, which is itself based on the MAP/CNMA profile with special modifications for mining requirements. It will include the development of ISU connections for existing process control computers, the adaptation of process control software, and the integration of proprietary underground control systems into the ISU network. This integration will be based on gateways and via direct connection to the ISU by the development of communication controllers, which have to be intrinsically safe.

Two pilot installations are planned, an Aitemin laboratory demonstration in Spain and a Ruhrkohle installation in a German coal mine. Products and services based on the results will be marketed by consortium members.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)
