Objective
The objective of TENPRO is to develop a system for the continuous monitoring and control of industrial production in order to protect the surrounding environment, while at the same time enhancing the production efficiency of the user company. Central to the project is the development of real-time monitoring of liquid and gaseous effluent streams. TENPRO will include work on enhancing current monitoring sensors and data communication systems, with the creation of high-level systems for data storage and the modelling, control and optimisation of production.
To ensure widespread cost-effective adoption throughout the process industry, the product will be generic and portable, with the potential for easy integration with established control systems in existing plants. A modular hardware/software system will be produced that uses an object-oriented approach in order to achieve easy replication and application across a broad industrial base.
Two target application areas will be addressed: chemical manufacture, and fossil-fuel power generation. The results of the pilot application in each area will be made available to similar industries across Europe, with a strong emphasis on commercial exploitation in the form of marketable software products.
