Project description
The emotional impact on disaster response
In an initiative to address disaster mitigation and management, the EU-funded IDEal reSCUE project is pioneering an approach to evaluate the performance of critical infrastructures and their interdependencies. Specifically, it will introduce the crucial role of emotions in disaster response human decision-making processes. Through a comprehensive framework, IDEal reSCUE will measure resilience across different spatial and temporal scales using seven dimensions and employing a multilayered and hybrid model of the community. The project's main achievement is the creation of the ‘Ideal City’. This is a virtual community model inspired by Turin, encompassing 23 000 buildings and approximately 900 000 agents, including essential critical infrastructures. This model allows for the simulation of citywide earthquake damages and search-and-rescue operations.
