Integrated Multi-Level Control System for One-of-a-Kind Production

Objective

The objective of the MUSYK project is to provide support for production planning and control and early project planning for one-of-a-kind production involving multi-site operations.

The work will be based on the development of an information archive of data and knowledge for use by centralised production planning systems and decentralised production monitoring systems controlling the production of major capital products. Multisite production coordination will be addressed and also the support of early stage project planning. The information archive will be used to assess the effect on production of a new design and thus permit a quick response to market demands.

The approach will be to base the archive on the project 2010, NEUTRABAS. The modelling of production and project data will follow the reference model of project 2439, ROCOCO.

The concept of integrated information archives will be demonstrated in two representative industries, a shipyard and a process plant manufacturer. In addition to the shopfloor control system of the ROCOCO project and the "Rough Planning System" of the "Production Planning and Control in Shipyards" German national project the development of a quotation preparation module and coordination modules will also be attempted. The results will be exploited particularly by the IT vendor consortium member in providing services to one-of-a-kind manufacturers.
