Objective
The objective of the LOCRIS project is to develop and optimise a new generation of highly integrated electronic control modules in order to achieve integrated servo control for low-cost robots.
The approach will be to:
- integrate servo control electronics with the robot controller
- develop and optimise the individual electronic control modules with the help of low-cost ASICs (application specific integrated circuits)
- select, adapt and integrate suitable control algorithms into the optimised electronics in order to enhance performance
- implement software tools to reduce the effort required to integrate, tune and maintain servo controls.
The results will be incorporated in a low-cost industrial robot, which will be demonstrated working in a welding cell. Components and robotic control systems based on the results will be marketed by industrial members of the consortium.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
