CORDIS

Coordinated control and spectrum management for 5G heterogeneous radio access networks

Deliverables

Final report on technical validation
Draft report on technical validation

This deliverable contains the first report on the impact of applying COHERENT solutions to the different scenarios and use cases considered by the project and defined by T2.1. The report also provides feedback to the technical work in WPs 2.3.4, identifying wrong assumptions and support in defining corrective actions.

Report on enhanced LSA, intra-operator spectrum sharing and micro-area spectrum sharing

First report on the low-level abstraction in the context of identified spectrum sharing / management strategies considered for application in HMNs, in particular in the context of selected simulation scenarios (i.e. flexible duplexing, D2D system, coexistence of licensed and unlicensed users in 5GHz band, etc.). The framework of low-layer abstraction in the context of spectrum sharing will be discussed. Finally, the set of initial SDK/API modules for WP5 will be identified. The contributions towards standardization bodies will be summarized (being the joint task with WP7). Proposed architecture of the COHERENT spectrum manager will be also provided.

Use cases and architecture

This deliverable will define the use cases that COHERENT solutions will address. The report will provide a detailed view of COHERENT's reference scenarios and analyses the requirements that need to be fulfilled by the platform in order to properly support the use cases.

Final standardization report

Final report on standardization activities and achievements.

Final report on flexible spectrum management

Final report of the WP4, including findings on LSA, intra-operator spectrum management, flexible duplexing, and the algorithms for the spectrum coordinator, additional coexistence results and the final protocol design.

Final report on Physical and MAC layer modelling

This report will describe the results on abstraction and parameter extraction of distributed/Massive MIMO architecture used by upper layer control framework. It will also study the separation of control functions at local and upper control layer in order for proper and efficient operation of distributed/Massive MIMO functions. This report will also describe the results on the abstraction, control support and resource allocations for D2D communications based on the proposed COHERENT concept. It will study the separation of control functions at local and upper control layer in order for efficient operation of D2D communications. This report will also describe the results on dynamic coverage extension and mobile management enabled by the COHERENT concept. This will perform a study on existing protocols standardized by 3GPP and IETF for their practicality in COHERENT. In addition, it will propose a mobility management solution which is optimized for seamless handovers in heterogeneous wireless networks with dynamic network coverage extensions.

System architecture and abstractions for mobile networks

This deliverable will account for the detailed reference system architecture used within the COHERENT project.

Final dissemination report

Final report on dissemination activities in the project.

First report on Physical and MAC layer modelling and abstraction

This report will provide the initial results from T3.1-T3.3. It will describe the findings and methods to abstract network topology, links and physical and MAC layer states of mobile networks. It will provide the results on modelling, abstraction and control of D2D communications. It will describe first results on network coverage extension and mobility management.

Draft specification and implementation of the algorithms for programmable radio access networks

In this deliverable we shall report on the techniques developed within WP5 to enable more efficient RAN than those currently available. The reported techniques will focus on three aspect of a programmable RAN: joint radio and backhaul resource provisioning, traffic steering and resource management and RAN sharing. D5.1 account for theoretical analysis, simulations and initial proof-of-concept implementation (the actual software development work will however be carried out in T2.4) of the proposed techniques and will address the requirements of the scenario described in D2.1. Given the fact that, at the time this deliverable will be released the abstractions developed within WP3 as well as the LTE demonstrator to be integrated in WP6 will not be fully available, this deliverable will focus on the application of the proposed techniques to the Wi-Fi test-bed provided by one of the partners (CNET).

Exploitation plan and techno-economic model

Report on exploitation activities, techno-economic model, and follow-up exploitation plan.

Final specification and implementation of the algorithms for programmable radio access networks

This deliverable shall report on the advances that took place in WP5 during the second development iteration. D5.2 implementation will be more stable and refined with regard to the one produced in D5.1 and will account for both the WiFi and the LTE technologies. The level of maturity of the developed algorithms will be suitable as basis for future works (both industrial and academic).

Final release of the SDK

This deliverable will provide the final release of the COHERENT SDK according to the update on abstraction specification. Feedback on the SDK and abstraction specification will be incorporated from WP3, WP4 and WP5 as well as from the validation carried out in WP6. This deliverable will also update the API and the documentation where required. The focus of this deliverable will be in providing support for LTE technology leveraging the EUR's OpenAirInterface platform.

Initial release of the SDK

This deliverable will provide the first release of the COHERENT SDK enabling baseline prototypes to be developed and validated. The deliverable will include API definition as well as documentation and some examples of how to develop application on top of the SDK. This first release will target mostly the WiFi technology. Task 2.2 will support in prioritizing the most relevant components of the COHERENT system architecture to be supported in the first release of the SDK.
